Discovery STS-127 Space Shuttle Mission Delayed

This week at Kennedy Space Center the Discovery STS-127 Space Shuttle mission was delayed due to a leak discovered thankfully prior to launch. Read on to learn all about the Discovery STS-127 Space Shuttle mission's leak.

This week, According to Nasa at Kennedy Space Center, Kennedy Space Center had a big scare. Nothing that cannot be handled with a simple repair of course. When running tests at the Kennedy Space Center on the Shuttle for mission STS-127, a leak was thought to have been discovered. When investigated by the technicians it was validated that indeed there was a leak. Nasa Space Shuttle Mission: STS-127 will be delayed according to Nasa managers. The decision is based on some much needed leak repairs found earlier in the week of June 14, 2009. Based on this decision, the team will delay the Shuttle launch until June 20, 2009.

Technicians found the leak at Kennedy Space Center. This leak is similar to the leak on Discovery's STS-119 mission. The leak is connected to a gaseous hydrogen venting system. The repair requires the internal seals to be replaced. This is done so the excess hydrogen can be safely burned off. Nasa Space Center reports that the find is a good and not a bad thing. Its better to find a leak than to have a problem later when there is no way to fix it. Everyone would agree that the safety of the Shuttle's launch and mission far outweigh any delays to the schedule.

Managers met today on June 14, 2009, to decide how the repairs should affect the launch date. They are looking to be as effective as possible with the launch dates and schedules.

This mission will last for 16 days; and will have five space walks on it. It will also include the completion of the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo Laboratory. This laboratory will allow experiments to be placed in space.

The mission will last for four months and will have seven members on the it. It should be a productive mission if all proceeds as planned. Nasa has to ensure first that the mission is safe to proceed with prior to launch.

The missions often are compared to space mechanics garages. That sounds funny; but if you think about it, that's exactly what these often are about. The crew goes up and makes repairs or tests things in space. It must be the coolest mechanic job on the planet, or off the planet. Either way, the Space Shuttle Mission STS-127 will launch if all goes well with the repairs later this week. It's far better to be safe than to be sorry.

Design your own shirt for fun or for your business.

Design your own shirt for fun, or for your business.

shirtcityclub.com - t-shirt design community

I like making lists - and I like promoting Web sites. So it was an obvious thing to do to create a list of ways to improve and promote a Web site and online presence. Some are obvious, some are bizarre. Some are old, some are new. Many are well know techniques, some are my own personal rambling. Nothing is a statement of fact, merely my own opinion.

If you're launching a new site, or new content, write an introduction and submit it to share sites like Digg, Reddit and Now Public.
Create a Yahoo Group in the niche your site sits.

Create a MySpace account and use it to publisise your site.

Bookmark your site on Del.icio.us and if you're really keen, add a Del.icio.us button to your homepage.

Create a Technorati account and "claim" your blog.

Submit your site to free, search engine friendly directories. An excellent list can be found here.

Conduct a survey. This is an excellent way to generate offline publicity.

Place a free ad for your company on Gumtree.

Speel cheek ur stie. Nothing appears more amateur than a site with typos or spelling mistakes.

Test your site and make sure it appears correctly in all major browsers.

Buy enough hosting. No one likes a slow site.

Don't worry about PageRank - worrying about PageRank is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.*

Offer something for free. Free is good. People tell their friends about free stuff.

Tell your neighbours, you never know what contacts they might have.

Offer your users as many ways as possible to contact you. MSN, Skype, Yahoo etc all complement email, phone and a real address.

Advertise your site on Craigslist. It's free, relevant and localised.

Submit your site to DMOZ.org. It may take time, but it's worth it.

Create an XML sitemap of your site and submit it to Google.

Send out a newsletter!

Go to a free seminar for Website owners. You might learn something.

This isn't your mom's time anymore: strong female role models

Strong female role models today are more evident than ever. All you have to do is turn on the television and you will see many excellent strong female role models for tweens today. This isn't your mom's time anymore ladies.

Today we have everyone from fictional characters to real life heroes, all making a difference in our world today. This is such a refreshing thing to see finally. Gone are the days of damsels in distress. Today's woman can do more than bring home the bacon and fry it up; she can defend those she loves as well.

From your local military mom, to fictional characters Buffy the Vampire Slayer, strong female role models for tweens abound. This is a good thing since it never feels right to have to depend on another person. Learn how to do it yourself. Learn how to defend yourself and those you love. Stand strong, be true to what you believe in; and rock history. Leave your legacy as a strong woman for those little girls that are becoming tweens today. Tomorrow they will be the role models. Give them something to look up to. Give them something worthwhile to aspire to be.

This isn't your mom's time anymore ladies; and you have to make sure you are teaching your tweens this. The media is so full of cute, brainless tweens that it is admittedly, disgusting. Try to look for strong female role models that teach your young tweens to be able to protect themselves and do things for themselves. Show them that doing things for yourself is an asset to their lives. Look for women to place as role models that are making a difference in our world today. Strong women that do more than look pretty or make the men stare. Teach your young tween girl that beauty is from inside of herself; not from a bottle of make-up. Show her that what matters most is how she behaves. Avoid stereotypes that disrespect others just to be cool. That's not a good role model. Brainless airheads are even worse as a role model. So really be sure to check out the role models in your tween's life and ensure that she has the strong influences available to her.

Consider enrolling her in martial arts classes and her ballet. That way, she will be graceful, elegant and never a damsel in distress. Yes, gone are the days of weak women. Strong female role models tweens today are available. Look around to find the ones that best suits your tweens life. This isn't your mom's time anymore, thankfully. Teach your daughter to rock history by leaving her path in this world as a strong and able woman.

Trip to the Vet with 6 Cats

Cats and the Veterinarian Visits

Last week it was time to go to the vet for our cats. All six of them had to be bundled up and go get their annual check-up and shots. Here are the antics of our trip to the vet with 6 cats.

First of all, you must realize that a cat is not a happy camper when it comes to change. Change is terrifying to a cat. They love nothing better than a routine that they can safely depend on every day. This brings peace to your cat. Now, consider that they now only have their daily routine messed with; but they also have their security messed with. Imagine not being able to understand the language of those around you, and all of this is happening. Consider this when you visit the vet with your cat. You can also imagine what our 6 cats felt as they day unfolded. It was actually at night. We reserved a whole hour at the vets office for our brood of a family. Did I mention that we also have a dog named Rin, two birds and five chinchillas? Fortunately they do not visit the vet all at the same time.

First they had to be put into their cages. We had only five cages we realized at the time. This meant that two had to be in one cage. Needless to say; it was not going to be easy. Two that play together every day were placed on one cage. They snuggled together well. They snuggled together well that is until Angel, our calico cat peed herself. Cats go when they need to go. Libby our youngest I swear was grimacing as we placed that cage on the shelf next to the examining table. My boyfriend and I apologized to the vet as he came in. As the veterinarian came in we said that Angel had peed in the cage. He was not even fazed by that. I guess like us, he has seen it all in cats. Nothing much affected him. I am sure he knows all too well that these are the antics of a trip to the vet with 6 cats.

We then had to get each one out of the cage and onto the measuring table. This required some hissing and general upset cat behavior. Needless to say we keep our cats claws trimmed. Remember though that, the antics of of a trip to the vet with 6 cats. Everyone did an amazing job. Even our two eldest cats who had to have blood work did a great job. There was of course some protest in the cat language of hissing and cat screams; but one has to expect that of any cat. Overall, they did very well. We got them all home and cleaned up Angel and the very unhappy Libby, who looked as if she was thinking something to the effect of "my sister is a pee-pee". Her normal cat eyes were flat across the brow appearing quite unhappy. She got over it; and I am happy to report that she is doing really well. They all are in fact.

So the next time you gripe about having to deal with a doctor visit with your kids, imagine this. You have 6 of them, they can't speak their thoughts, they are violent at will; and they have no problem with taking your face off at any moment as they see fit. These are the antics of of a trip to the vet with 6 cats.

Avoid scams and hacking issues online with accountability

Avoid scams, and protect yourself from getting scammed. That's what you hear everywhere in today's world. Paranoia, or reality that is scary enough to make you take extra caution? I say it's reality that makes you have to take more caution. I'm into being careful and not trusting things at first glance. That's the best way to avoid scams. Let's take a look at today's world.

You have the greed that has always been in place of course. You no longer have the job loyalty that was present in my grandfather's era. Let's face it; who is going to go the extra mile for a company that isn't there when you need them? I know, wah, wah, wah. I agree. You can make it work for you or swim upstream against it right? Exactly, the point. In today's world, you have to keep up with so much. You have to make sure that you safe, and then that your family is safe. It seems like everyone is out to take you for something. So how can you tell when a scam is present? Accountability, is the answer. Fair and square accountability. If a company or person is willing to show the truth in any situation (privacy issues respected of course-don't forget the constitution that grants us the right to many things please); then they are accountable. Being accountable is how you avoid being called a scam. So, if you are in any situation that feels questionable ask for proof of the facts. Ask to see the books. If they won't share that to the people they are accountable to... well, you get the idea. Don't tell me your company is legit if you can't show the members proof of the facts.

Now on to internet security. I've been doing serious research as of late on the internet security issues that we face today. I discovered that even accountability is faked now days. My guess is that it has been that way always; but who knows. So, now we're back at square one again. Believe me when I say that anything can be faked these days. Hacking is everywhere these days. The research I uncovered on Google alone would blow most people's minds. Fortunately the water cooler at work is a place to get in the loop on all things in the hacking and scam world. Many people like me tend to trust way too easily. Believe me people, you have to check things out. You have to be a little paranoid today; and avoid anyone that isn't willing to be accountable.

Now add the issue of high unemployment in today's economy. People are desperate to make the money to live and keep the lives they have built for years. Add to that this environment and you have a recipe ripe for disaster. It's a scammers' paradise now days. You really have to be careful.
